Annual Golf Tourney Helps Underwrite Scholarships

The Wichita Aero Club’s mission is to educate the community about the importance of aviation. That can be the local community, the business community, even the broader aviation community—that portion of the aerospace world that doesn’t focus on or understand the issues that impact the general and business aviation segments that have such an important influence on the Air Capital and its economy and employment levels. Of course, it also includes the student community, the next generation of aviation workers who will carry on the tradition that has made Wichita the most prolific producer of aircraft on the planet. We’re attempting to do our part to encourage kids to stay close to their Kansas roots and pursue careers in aviation like their parents and grandparents before them by pointing out exciting and relevant topics and pursuits related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) studies while they’re still in elementary and middle school. In high school, we’re encouraging that focus along with organizations like the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) with their Young Eagles, the Boy Scouts and their Eagle Scout program, and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) High School Aviation Leadership Alliance. Post high school, were putting our money where our mouth is, establishing two Wichita Aero Club scholarships, each worth $5,000, to encourage students to become part of the next generation of Kansas’s aviation leaders.
The annual Wichita Aero Club Golf Classic and the Wichita Aero Club Trophy Gala are the principle means of raising funds to support these two scholarships Neither event is offered as bare-bones fundraiser; they’re highly regarded annual dates that are circled on the calendar with outstanding programs, top-notch food, impeccable service, lots of enthusiasm and generosity to spare.
The Wichita Aero Club greatly appreciates its tremendous list of generous supporters. Without you, we would be unable to provide scholarships, help kids attend summer aviation and space camps, encourage flight training and proficiency or even maintain our schedule of meetings and events. So please, accept our thanks for your ongoing help, enjoy playing golf, coming to our gala or just sharing in our luncheons or mixers and events. Whatever you’re doing, it’s giving us a lift. And, of course, in aviation, lift is very important!
