Governor Mark Parkinson

Don't miss the luncheon.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2010 AT  NOON AT THE WICHITA AIRPORT HILTON HOTEL

HEAR GOVERNOR PARKINSON!

A native Wichitan who graduated from Wichita Heights High School and Wichita State University, Mark Parkinson knows first-hand the significance of aviation on the local, state and national economy.  He saw it as a kid growing up in the community and while attending the University of Kansas Law School in the early 1980s.  He recognized its importance during his tenure as a State Representative and State Senator during the early '90s, and he  routinely considered its impact during his stint as  Lieutenant Governor from 2006 until 2009.  On April 28 of last year he became Kansas' 45th governor.  Now, as leader of the state that has produced more aircraft than any other place on earth, where 1/3 of the statewide budget is directly tied to aviation but whose workforce and tax revenues have been severely diminished during the ongoing economic downturn, he has been forced to make some difficult choices.  He'll address the role of Kansas, its aviation industry and issues that pertain to both when he speaks to the Wichita Aero Club.
