Dave Franson is the President of the Wichita Aero Club, which he helped found in 2008. A veteran aviation executive with more than 35 years of experience in the industry, he originally launched Franson Consulting, Inc., specializing in media relations, public affairs and marketing in 1996. A 1971 graduate of Wheaton College in Illinois, he earned a master’s degree in Mass Communications from Wichita State University in 1982. His resume includes stints as Director of U.S. Public Affairs for Bombardier Learjet (from 1997-2004), Vice President of Public Relations at Cessna Aircraft Company (1994-1996), VP of Meetings and Membership for the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) (1992-1994), and Vice President of Public Affairs for Allied Signal Aerospace Company (now Honeywell) (1980-1992). He began his aviation career in 1974 in the Cessna PR Department after two years as the Sports Information Director at his alma mater and a year in the same position at Wichita State University. A licensed pilot, he is a native of Michigan. He and his wife, Cindy, moved to Wichita originally in 1973, two weeks after they were married. They have two grown children and two grandchildren.
