Dave Franson is the Executive Director of the Wichita Aero Club, which he helped found in 2008. A veteran aviation executive with more than 35 years of experience in the industry, he founded Franson Consulting, Inc., specializing in media relations, public affairs and marketing. A 1971 graduate of Wheaton College in Illinois, he earned a master’s degree in Mass Communications from Wichita State University in 1982. Prior to establishing his own firm in 2004, he served as Director of U.S. Public Affairs for Bombardier Learjet (from 1997-2004), Vice President of Public Relations at Cessna Aircraft Company (1994-1996), VP of Meetings and Membership for the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) (1992-1994), and Vice President of Public Affairs for Allied Signal Aerospace Company (now Honeywell) (1980-1992). He began his aviation career in 1974 in the Cessna PR Department after two years as the Sports Information Director at his alma mater and a year in the same position at Wichita State University. A licensed pilot, he is a native of Michigan. He and his wife, Cindy, moved to Wichita originally in 1973, two weeks after they were married. They have two grown children and two grandchildren.
