WAC Supports America Flies Initiative from Congressman Pompeo

January 11, 2012 6:53pm

Wichita Aero Club Executive Director Dave Franson joined Kansas Fourth District Congressman Mike Pompeo on Wednesday, January 11 as the latter unveiled a new initiative and website designed to promote general aviation and the jobs it creates in Kansas and beyond.

Congressman Pompeo pointed out that the site provides an online petition for those who wish to counter the attack on general aviation led by President Obama, whose rhetoric has had a chilling effect on the segment. The uncertainty generated by the President’s business aviation bashing has contributed significantly to the loss of more than 13,000 jobs in the Air Capital.

“The President, his administration, and a number of legislative leaders have caused us measurable pain in Wichita,” Franson said. “America Flies is a Kansas-focused on-line effort to communicate the benefits of general aviation and its importance to our communities and our economy.”

Those wishing to find out more or sign the petition, leave an anecdote about how general aviation has impacted their lives may visit the site at www.americaflies.us.
