WAC’s December 2015 ON-AIR Summit Features “Great Pilots” Panel, Moderated by Paul Bowen!

The Wichita Aero Club’s annual ON-AIR Summit for 2015 will be a “Great Pilots” Panel with Clay Lacy, Patty Wagstaff, and Lee Lauderback responding to questions from moderator Paul Bowen, who more aptly fits the category of “Great Photographer.”

Scheduled for Tuesday, December 15, at noon at the Doubletree Hilton at Dwight D. Eisenhower Airport, the event will not only be an extraordinary luncheon in terms of what each of the panel members will share about flying, it will probably be one of the most memorable events when it comes to the people and places they’ve flown with, as well.

About the Panel

Clay Lacy has probably spent more time piloting an airplane than any human. He quit logging his hours when his logbooks were well in excess of 50,000 hours and he still flies virtually every day. He flew more hours as a United captain than anyone when he retired years ago. He flew and sold airplanes for Bill Lear and has flown charter and business aircraft on a continual basis for over 50 years. He’s actually been flying airplanes for going on seven decades.

He will be joined by a woman who has more hours flying upside down and in unusual attitudes than many of us have flying straight and level. She’s a world champion aerobatic pilot and an incredible aviator— Patty Wagstaff. And speaking of Unusual Attitudes, one of the most congenial and level-headed guys in the industry who just happens to teach corporate pilots how to recover from unusual attitudes is a gentleman by the name of Lee Lauderback. He also happens to be one of the world’s foremost P-51 pilots, flying the Mustang in airshows when he’s not using it for upset training and he was, for a time, Arnold Palmer’s corporate pilot, too. The three of them also have something else in common—they’re all great friends of and have flown with Paul Bowen, who’s in a class by himself as an aerial photographer, and he’s agreed to moderate this panel of astounding aviators.
